@DevilOfRomance yea over time Hindi has become more Urdu but the script is different. I know some words of Sanskrit and it's very different. Though people get confused when we say basic words like jee and kya but I find it very annoying even if it isn't their fault.

@Simzzyy99 true, most of the time its annoying for a Pakistani because, well the work has a habit of only considering massive things and because india is huge, most of the westworld think sub-continent is India only.:-)

and actually urdu and hindi are quite different. The modern hindi we hear on tv is actually urdu. 
          the real hindi is like 70% Sanskrit and 30% urdu and very difficult language.  While Urdu is an amalgam of Persian,Turkish, Arabic,bits of sanskrit and also many other subcontinent languages. eg
          hindi would be: Samay ,Urdu would be :Waqt,  hindi : Vishvaas, urdu : bharosa,yakeen etc.
