Listen, Hamilton might not be the most conventional musical, might be “basic”, but aside from it revolutionizing broadway, from just a music nerd aspect it’s genius. The transitions, I mean this is a solid 2 hours of straight music that people somehow don’t get bored of that not only switches time signatures multiple times, but bounces through keys while also maintaining the same motifs throughout the songs without them sounding dissonant in different keys. There’s blatant moments of dissonance from C Minor to B Minor that just sound so beautiful and pair so well together that I didn’t even notice until now, four years after first listening to this musical, it’s just so beautiful and creative simply from a music standpoint I could fish about the genius of it for years.
