Hi,
My protagonist in "Architects" is finally being given a personality!
He will have ADHD. This is because the story covers the mental states of humanity and this is a disorder close to my heart. The antagonist will be a narcissist as sadly this disorder is also well known to me.
Those who deal with ADHD on a regular basis have my admiration it is a disorder that needs to be written about more. In my story it is written as a part of the evolution of the human soul. I hope you can identify with this description of Klem.
"His dad had told him that he was different. His thoughts were quicker. Klem liked to think that he was a racing ekwid. The feeling of wind in his hair as he ran. The knowing that he could run and run and keep running. Fast. It was the slowing down that he had to get better at. When he was younger, he could not slow down. However hard he tried he could not stop the frustration. This led to anger and an impenetrable, messy cloud would obscure his confused mind. He would lash out. Do silly, naughty things, say silly, naughty things. Things he didn’t mean to do or say. Spitting, punching, swearing.
Once his dad had explained they way Klem was to his family they learnt to keep his frustrations in check. His mother was often at her wits end with his siblings and it took a great deal of inner strength and a hardness of mind to stay calm, not to argue, and to praise where it was due. Klem would not be told. He could be given choices and would work hard for a fair reward. At fifteen years of age he was able to keep his frustrations within. He would always have a fast mind, but he had gained a feeling of some outward control.
