"I am telling you that a man was... inappropriate to me...he said he wanted to..." Sofia's voice was shaking.
          "You aren't a two-year-old. He has taken a liking to you. Consider yourself lucky. You have no idea where this man can get us. To where this connection can get us..."
          "I am your wife." Sofia scoffed.
          "And, I am consenting to this." Hector cut her off.
          
          "Hector, don't!" Sofia tried to shut him up, but Hector continued. "It doesn't change anything. Make him happy. He won't be wanting it all the time. He had hundreds of women for him. This will all be over in a month or two. But you can be good friends in the future, and he can be kind to you. And, us! Think where his connections can get us."
          At first, if Antonio's behavior in the past seemed a problem, now adding her husband's ideas about all this worried Sofia more. It seems the very man she expected to protect her from a predator was ready to throw her to that animal.
          Sofia recalled how Antonio had always tried to be a gentleman. But there was nothing gentle about his intentions. And, only his eyes and direct approach with his words were enough to tell Sofia about it. 
          She could still recall the day when he had told her.
          "You will warm my bed one day. And, your husband will drive you here that day."
          At that time, she slapped him, but now it seems he had won. Sofia gulped, looking at Hector. Her Hector couldn't be this blind. It wasn't that simple. She could tell that Antonio had spent a great deal of time brainwashing her husband.
          Sofia rubbed her cheeks and told her husband off while walking away. "This isn't happening. Not today. Not ever."
          How much she hoped that Hector would respect her decision, but when she heard him say, "You are enjoying this 'hard to get'. Aren't you? Fine, I think Antonio will woo you one way or another."

"Yes, I get she is alive. But I am your wife. We have a family. I am pregnant and you wanted it too. You said,..."
          "Yes, I did. I know you will be a great mother Maria but things are changed now. I will not blame you for not wanting this baby but I can double your decided alimony if you birth it for me now."
          "What?"
          "You don't have to worry about it. You can start your life over. Find someone who can love you as much as you can love someone."
          "Don't..."
          "Maria..."
          "Don't."
          "I..."
          "Do not decide for me. I will figure it out, Emilio. I will figure it out for me and my child with or without you."
           Maria had learned nothing could make Emilio look at her as his wife. But she wished it could go on forever. And, she had believed it would be forever when he told her so. If she knew something about Emilio it was he never gets back on his words. But everything was changed once his ex-lover was back. Everything was shattered. From his dotting wife he was proud of she was back to a bride who was up for sale to secure her father's company. She was nothing. Her love and her care were nothing. She had lost everything to a woman who could have Emilio's heart for simply existing. The only thing she was left with was her unborn child and she was ready to open the hell gates on earth to claim her baby. And, nothing could come her way this time. Neither Emilio's wealth nor her father's greed.
