Please sign if you want Wattpad to keep PM. Also, Wattpad is starting to act fishy... (they aren't responding to people, you can no longer comment on their page, and they've been suspending and deleting people's accounts/books/messages)

destinies_stars

@Siriusly_bookish ] don't do petitions, wattpad won't look at them
you can directly send them feedback, and complain of it being removed there
also ppl are review bombing the app, which I'm sure they'll notice too

I don't know how many people have already heard the news, but I just found out and I am annoyed and I want to share. WATTPAD IS GETTING RID OF PRIVATE MESSAGING. We will no longer be able to privately message ANYONE and all existing conversations are getting deleted. BUT Wattpad can still private message US which is soooooo fair (note the sarcasm). They aren't giving a reason why (the message lets you "learn more" but when you click it, it just takes you to the info about PM page) and it's happening May 6th, I believe, but some people are getting ones saying it's happening April 30 and some people already have some (or maybe all, I'm not sure) of their PMs deleted. This is all that we really know because Wattpad is being really vague but I'm actually seriously considering leaving Wattpad now because I really only use it to PM friends (and read stories; so I may keep it for the stories but I'm probably gonna stop posting and being on much).

Need to vent again

Read ANOTHER transphobic article where these parents wanted to sue their son's school because he decided he was trans (was born a female) and asked to be called by a male name and used he/him pronouns in school... and the parents are mad because the teachers/school "hid" this from them... oh, and they're pulling him out because "being trans is against their religious beliefs"...

But wait! It gets worse. I went to the comments hoping people would be on the kid's side but nope! Almost everyone claimed that the school was in the wrong and that being trans is, and I quote a "mental illness". Also because said child had autism, he shouldn't be trusted with these times of decisions without his parents knowing. AND then people said that choosing your gender is an "adult things" and only parents need to give their child permission to ask to be called by a different pronoun... people in the comment literally compared being trans to watching an R-rated movie where you need your parents signiture... like... no... the child's gender has nothing to do with the parents. And no wonder the child didn't tell his parents! Also... why does it even matter if a child wants to be called a different gender? Like, even if they aren't trans and just want to use a different pronoun... why can't they? Why does it matter?!

TW: Talk of suicide, transphobia

Read this article about how this woman pretended to be a sad nine year old who reached out to a suicide hotline (why she did this was never explained... like why would a nine year old know about a suicide hotline? I feel like that should be more concerning than anything else but whatever) and felt, and I quote, "sickened" by the responses. So, of course, I read the article thinking the response were, you know, making the depression worse or just really insensitive... nope. What were the responses? Well, this woman pretended to be a young girl who felt more like a boy... so the person on the other end gave what they thought was a child information on being trans and such... and told the "child" they don't need to tell their parents they're trans if they don't think it will go over well... and this woman got MAD at this. Like, okay transphobe. I mean, okay, maybe nine is a little young to be reading into changing your gender by yourself... but come on. The person was trying to HELP, not make it worse. Saying that makes you "sick" shows that if your child ever feels trans, they certainly aren't coming out to you. Also, the woman got mad because the person on the other end asked if this child was feeling suicidal...Bitch, it's a suicide hotline. Of course, they're going to ask if you're feeling suicidal!

Sorry for this being so long, I just need to vent about it. Like, the fact that THAT make this woman feel "sick to her stomach"... there are people who have literally gone onto these hotlines cause they were about to kill themselves and the person they were talking to was insensitive and making it worse... the person she talked to wanted to help... that is not a bad thing. Sorry that you're a piece of shit but please don't act like it's a horrible thing to teach children about being trans.

Also, just want to add; if someone feels like they're trans at a young age, they are allowed to look into it. I'm just saying I could understand why someone might be upset their nine year old is learning about it by themselves. Once again, I think children should be allowed to learn about being trans but I do see the other side.

I have this YouTuber I watch but I can't read the comments of their videos anymore because apparently the homophobes and transphobes and the Straights have descended upon them and every single comment on there is now a hate comment... dear lord, why can't the gays have anything nice?!
