TW: Talk of suicide, transphobia
Read this article about how this woman pretended to be a sad nine year old who reached out to a suicide hotline (why she did this was never explained... like why would a nine year old know about a suicide hotline? I feel like that should be more concerning than anything else but whatever) and felt, and I quote, "sickened" by the responses. So, of course, I read the article thinking the response were, you know, making the depression worse or just really insensitive... nope. What were the responses? Well, this woman pretended to be a young girl who felt more like a boy... so the person on the other end gave what they thought was a child information on being trans and such... and told the "child" they don't need to tell their parents they're trans if they don't think it will go over well... and this woman got MAD at this. Like, okay transphobe. I mean, okay, maybe nine is a little young to be reading into changing your gender by yourself... but come on. The person was trying to HELP, not make it worse. Saying that makes you "sick" shows that if your child ever feels trans, they certainly aren't coming out to you. Also, the woman got mad because the person on the other end asked if this child was feeling suicidal...Bitch, it's a suicide hotline. Of course, they're going to ask if you're feeling suicidal!
Sorry for this being so long, I just need to vent about it. Like, the fact that THAT make this woman feel "sick to her stomach"... there are people who have literally gone onto these hotlines cause they were about to kill themselves and the person they were talking to was insensitive and making it worse... the person she talked to wanted to help... that is not a bad thing. Sorry that you're a piece of shit but please don't act like it's a horrible thing to teach children about being trans.
