Since everybody has something or the other to say about the "Hijab ban controversy" which is going on in Karnataka, without knowing the complete truth, let me set the record straight. In the entire ordeal, there are multiple groups to be blamed.
1> The Government. Uniform code is a must for maintenance of discipline, but it shouldn't be done at the cost of denial of Basic Constitutional Rights(Freedom of Religion guaranteed by Article 25-28, ensuring the maintenance of secularism in India). It is totally unfair for banning Hijab, stating "violation of dress code" as an excuse considering Hindus wearing kadas and sacred threads and Christians wearing crosses isn't questioned.
2> Not the entire community(and so DO NOT blame the entire community/religion), but a part of both religions. When it comes to Muslims, speaking up and protesting for your rights is very much valid and encouraged. But not by using violence(reports issued against some protestors for carrying lethal weapons) and also not by bringing down any other religion(there was some major hate speech made by some towards the entire Hindu religion).
To some of the Hindus, if you're following, protecting and taking pride in your religion, then give learn to give the same to others as well. You believe in your traditions, and let them believe in theirs. Learn secularism if you want secularism.
In the end, we are all humans. We share the same air, same water, and the same basic food. We share the same basic structure and same basic DNA. Remember that the next time you forget about equality.
Humanity is our basic religion. Follow it.
