The surname McMillon is considered a variation of the Scottish clan name MacMillan, which comes from the Gaelic MacMhaolain, meaning “son of the tonsured one,” referring to a religious devotee or monk. Over centuries, as Gaelic names were translated into English, many spelling variations developed, including McMillan, MacMillan, McMillen, McMillin, McMillion, and McMillon. Because of these variations, people with different spellings of the name are often historically connected to the same clan roots.

Clan MacMillan is an ancient Scottish Highland clan with a long history and a strong cultural identity. While having a surname variation like McMillon doesn’t absolutely guarantee direct descent from the clan, Scottish clan societies today generally welcome anyone with a related surname as part of the extended clan family. These clans often hold gatherings and events—sometimes in Scotland and sometimes in other countries like the United States—where people who share the name can meet, celebrate their heritage, and connect with others who share similar ancestry. For many people with MacMillan-related surnames, attending a clan gathering is a meaningful way to experience their Scottish roots and be part of a tradition that has lasted for centuries.

@SocialThemes Best Advice was To Never Give Up. Because I remember when an acquaintance told me I was "a bad sport". Another person told me to not listen to that as that would get me down. Always look up is what I would say ... move on as tomorrow is another day!

@SocialThemes Mine would probably be my Ghanaian traditional kaba and slit. I have more than one, but there's one in particular that was passed down to me from my grandmother, who died less than two years ago. She had it made when I was a little girl, using my mother's measurements to make a Ghanaian outfit with Indian designs to celebrate my mixed heritage. Ironically, her birthday would have been in 5 days, so now that she's gone, I feel like it has taken on a more special meaning.

@SocialThemes A picture of my paternal grandpa with his life quote. My grandma gave a copy to everybody in the family after he passed away. I have it on my dresser next to my bed, so I see it multiple times every day. I need to reframe it, though...
