Hi, I just read your one-shot book and loved it. You said that suggestions were open, so if you don't mind, I'll just share a small plot idea.
I'm gonna use Song of Achilles as reference.
So, when Achilles gave Briseis away because he thought that by letting her get assaulted by Agamemnon, he could kick him out and replace him, whilst also getting revenge (?) on Briseis for having a crush on Patroclus, Pat of course got her back.
The night of that day, what if they had a deep conversation?
Patroclus is also insecure because of his father's abuse, being compared to others and seen as worthless because he couldn't fight or race or anything.
Achilles could talk to him about why he let them take Briseis, and get all jealous and angry.
Patroclus could just defend Briseis and the argument could take a twist, because for the first time in their lives, Achilles and Patroclus have opposite views, and this is important.
Patroclus points out to Achilles how unfair he's being and how badly he's treating Pat, and that's why Pat even considered dating Briseis.
When Achilles gets all defensive about the situation, Patroclus just tells Achilles some stuff about his past that Achilles didn't know. That, and considering Patroclus slit his wrist -which, let's be honest, he didn't need that much blood and he knew it- and the time he ran away to the mountaisn after hearing about Achilles dying in a prophecy and getting bloodied and wounded, Patroclus is a seriously depressed and insecure person.
My point is, I would love to see a deep conversation unravel into an argument and into Patroclus telling Achilles the full truth about his past, of how his father always hit him, how his father always criticized him and ridiculed him for not being good at "manly" stuff, things like that, and into Achilles guilty and apologizing to Pat.
And then some wholesome cuddles.
