Astaroth is not a violent demon, but rather an 𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕦𝕒𝕝 𝕠𝕟𝕖: he is associated with wisdom, science, and the revelation of secrets, though he is vain, and is said to be able to answer questions about the past, present, and future. He believes his fall was unjust and that 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣. 𝐒𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 suggest that he may have once been a 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, part of the highest orders of the 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘺.
