· · ─ Pauline Stark was born in the cold halls of Winterfell during an unusually fierce storm, as if the North itself were heralding her arrival. From an early age, she stood out among her siblings. While Robb and Jon trained with swords, and Sansa dreamed of castles and songs, Pauline spent her days poring over maps or reading about the other houses and regions of Westeros. Her father, Eddard Stark, saw her curiosity as a strength, albeit an unconventional one for a Stark daughter. Catelyn, however, watched her with growing concern, fearing that her "improper" behavior might invite rumors or trouble.

Pauline's differences extended beyond her personality to her appearance. Her dark hair, expressive eyes, and delicate features stood in stark contrast to the colder, reserved demeanor of the other Starks. This fueled cruel rumors: how could such a lively, sentimental girl be Eddard Stark's daughter? Whispers circulated that she was the product of an affair between Catelyn and Daemon Targaryen, a rumor fanned by Pauline’s fascination with stories of dragons and fire. Pauline ignored the gossip outwardly, but deep down, the doubts gnawed at her.

As she grew older, her curiosity about the world beyond the North turned her into a natural explorer. Using any excuse, she ventured to the edges of Winterfell, learning from travelers and merchants about the warm lands of Dorne or the mysteries of Essos. Among all the houses, House Martell captivated her imagination. Pauline was fascinated by Dorne’s freedom and warmth, dreaming of dancing on golden sands under the sun, far from the cold and the responsibilities of being a Stark.
