          “We used to play together when we were kids,” she said, smiling. “But he never let me win. He was always so serious."
          
          Good for him. But I bet he’s not the one she’s married to.
          
          “And he’s really nice, isn’t he?” she added with a beaming smile, glancing up at me.
          
          Nice? Nice! I was seconds away from dragging her away, just so this nice man would stop looking at her. But no, that would only make her think I’d gone mad. So instead, I did the next best thing. I tightened my grip on her waist and started drawing slow, deliberate circles with my thumb to keep myself calm.
