1/ 2 Hello all of you beautiful people! It’s been too long hasn’t it? The last 4 years have been absolutely insane and a rollercoaster of events both fair and BS.

My god, Battle of the Souls turns 5 years old this year. I still remember vividly the day Smash Bros Ultimate was revealed in that fated Nintendo direct, the Smash Bros logo seared into Inkling Girl’s eye. It was the biggest hype time for me, especially as a kid when I was heading into High School with no idea what would happen. Everything was new to me and the hype for the game was so strong I created Battle for the Souls out of pure hype. I didn't have an idea for it yet, and originally I was planning on making it a direct sequel to Subspace Emissary with Tabuu and everything. I decided however, to add my own spin on this story to try to tell something more original. With it came the dreaded Reaper, an idea I got from watching the Smash Bros direct that showed Simon freaking Belmont coming to Smash. As of this update, Battle for the Souls has been upvoted over 120 times and read over 10k times! This success was wild when I watched it go down live. People were reading what I created for fun, and liking it! I felt so great and was super motivated to keep continuing the story. I would write it during class and everything! I then finished it and made plans for a sequel series.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get around to it. In the months after finishing Battle for the Souls, I drafted several different ideas and plans, and they just never worked out. Being as it was gonna be a sequel series, I wanted to do everything I did in Battle for the Souls, but BETTER. Unfortunately, I could never get around to it. School and life made me a busy man. I look back now at the story, and I’m still proud of what I was able to create, and it made me want to continue writing and world-building. I still enjoy it today.

          	  But it's not good.

It’s a relic of my time in high school, and it shows. Pacing is everywhere, styling isn’t consistent. Neither is the tone. I threw in some moments I realize now were terrible ideas, and I lament that I didn’t do enough with the characters or story. One big gripe I have with it even if I still enjoy it is that I completely threw out the canon personalities of certain characters. This is evidently shown with Ridley. I have scrapped all original work on the sequel series, as I just couldn’t continue on with it, especially as my taste in writing has changed.

HOWEVER! I am not finished with it!

I don’t know when, but I do plan on returning to Battle for the Souls. I want to completely rewrite it, as well as post some other stories I’m working on now. Even if no one reads it, I will, and I want to satisfy this part of my life.

Flaws, cringe and all, I enjoy Battle for the Souls, and if you enjoyed it too, maybe you will enjoy the rewrite I do for it.

It’s gonna be longer, more detailed, better crafted to the canon games, and most of all, it's gonna be my story to tell!

Sorry, I know this is a VERY late reply, but one thing you should do is attempt to flesh out characters you plan to have in a story, and since Smash Bros contains A LOT of characters, they can easily jumble around and mess up the pace of the story. So when you write characters, make sure to organize them together so their upbringing doesn’t distract from the main story.
