As we approached the entrance, the bouncers raised their brows.
"Password?" one asked.
Hermia replied smoothly, then nudged me forward.
"He looks sick," one bouncer said, pointing to me.
Hermia didn’t flinch. "He's an addict. Has a nasal condition. We’re here for the pills."
I blinked. "What?"
She squeezed my arm. "Play along."
The bouncers exchanged glances and let us through.
Inside was chaos.
Sweaty bodies, pulsing music, clouds of smoke. People everywhere.
Hermia scanned the room like a hunter.
"You sure you’re okay in this kind of place?" I asked.
"Relax. I’ve got friends who do drugs. I don’t."
I gave her a look.
"Don’t look at me like that. I like chaos—I just don’t snort it."
She made a call. I couldn’t hear the voice on the other end, but she nodded and mouthed, "Upstairs. Room four."
I frowned. "How do you know these people?"
"Football. Hockey. Dancers. People talk."
"That’s... comforting." I settled when she gave me a look.

Unfollowing everyone, because I follow way too many people who don’t follow me. So I’m restarting—so don’t take it to heart—just ask for a follow back if you genuinely want me to be a follower of yours.
StarDaisyxxx21
@DreLeonWrites oh no problem. I'm just seeing this. I'd like you to follow back if you don't mind it.

My stomach tightened. "Did they say who reported it?"
"No." I was disappointed. "Just that the victim had been transferred from the scene by a private citizen before the ambulance arrived."
I thought of Aaron’s words: I got the plate number.
Something still didn’t sit right.
Later that night, I sat alone at my apartment, the press draft from Lizzy glowing on my screen. But I didn’t hit send.
I kept replaying Aaron’s face in that hallway. That phone call. That delay before he answered. Why did it feel like there was more to what he saw?
And why, even now, did part of me still want to trust him with everything I couldn’t say out loud?
I closed the laptop. Picked up my phone. And typed.
Can we talk?
It brought back memories. Memories of how it all started in highschool.

I should've pulled away. But I didn't.
I leaned in, chest shaking, my face buried into the warmth of his shoulder. His scent hadn't changed. He still smelled like pine and something deeper, like a memory.
And all I could think was that he was still the one I fell apart with. I didn't know how long we sat like that.
The hallway faded and the world faded. For a moment, it was just him and me.
But, moments don't last forever. Eventually, I pulled back. Not all the way but just enough to breathe.
Aaron's hand hovered near my shoulder, unsure.
"You don't have to say anything," he said. "I just... wanted you to know you're not alone."
His voice cracked slightly. I wondered if he hated hospitals as much as I did. I wondered if he thought about that night too. The blood, the sirens, the sound of my voice screaming his name.
I inhaled shakily and commented. "This feels like déjà vu."
He smiled weakly. "Except this time, it's not me in the hospital bed."
It hit deep and I gave a small, sad laugh. "Would it be better if it was?"
"Maybe," he answered. Too fast.
I stared at him. He ran a hand through his hair, frustrated. "Sorry. I didn't mean that. I just... I hate that it's him. Not because it's him, but because you're hurting... Again."
I closed my eyes, tears threatening again.
"Look, I don't know what to feel anymore."
He looked at me for a long time. "Okay. Then don't. Not now. Just breathe."

A weak chuckle escaped me. "She hates me now. Probably more than ever.-"
Grandma didn't stir, still, but I imagined her voice anyway. Low, patient and always wise: "-Then stop giving her reasons to."
I leaned back in the chair, running a hand through my wet hair. I was soaked, and my hair dripping. I didn't want the droplets to affect Grandma in any way. The cold was now creeping into my bones.
I started to think about Hermia's new love interest and the misfortune that befell him lately which I'm well aware of.
"I don't know if I hate him," I confessed quietly. "But it sure feels a lot easier than admitting I'm afraid she'll never come back to me."
I closed my eyes. The silence had answered for her.
Hours passed and it was nearly midnight when I finally stepped out. I had waited, hoping maybe I'd catch a glimpse of her. But no such luck.
The sky had cleared, but the streets still glistened with rain. I was passing by when the nurse from earlier came up to me. She was asking me about my Grandma. She asked if I saw any improvements. I smiled politely and thanked her when she said she was the personal nurse I had assigned when Grandma's treatment started. I hadn't recognised her.
It was when I was starting to get bored and I looked away that someone caught my attention.
Hermia.
She was curled up in one of the hallway chairs outside the ICU, her arms wrapped around herself like she was trying to hold in all the pieces and her eyes were directly glaring at me.
I lost my breath at that moment.

After four weeks of unannounced hiatus because studies got in the way yet again, I'm bringing back Taming The Tomboy with four new chapters to make up for my time absent here. My sincerest apologies if I disappointed anyone which I'm certain of actually. I just really suck at multitasking. SOS. Anyone? (+_+)
