And for the INQ people here, Gilded’s unpublished for the meantime since I want to distance myself from that fandom for a while. It’s put me into a bad mindset more than once that I’ve been trying to blame on anything else, but finally being distant’s already made me loads happier, so I’m sticking with it <3

SCREW IT— I’m treating the original script as canon with minor alterations here and there; when SoW actually gets rewritten I’m gonna enjoy that for that without worrying about following it up with some super cool fanfic to make up for 2021 or smth </3

Okaaaay so about what I said yesterday— It turns out a team of people are in the process of rewriting Songs of War’s script from what I know, so much so that even Mont is aware and intends to come back to those videos when his team gets to rewriting the script in the future. Now PART of me wants to just stick to the original script for reference (with my own alterations already existing in places), but my interest is also piqued by what they’ve got going on; they’ve done Tygren, Zulius. Achillean, Ria, and several others’ characters justice, so much so that I’m reluctant to continue the revision with their canon counterparts as reference. I mean no offense to the SQM team whatsoever—especially since they paused all production for a while and it makes sense for the script to be sloppy in places— but the rewritten characters just feel so much more fleshed out. I MEAN COME ON TYGREN’S AGAINST THE DEATHSINGER I’VE BEEN GRIEVING THE LACK OF THAT FOR 4 YEARS—
          
          Basically I’m stuck thinking that it’d be better to reference the rewritten script when that comes around, except I can’t since that’s years away so I’m trying to think of a compromise. Some alterations for my sequel that already exist concern Thalleous, Tygren, and both Singers. Youuuu can guess why.. this is a MW rewrite after-all. I also have a few of my own original concepts, but I’m feeling less motivated to write with my main reference being what is now essentially a rough draft of Songs of War, if that makes sense :[

A note about MW’s Revision: This is something I’ve been honestly procrastinating, since I know once I start this, I’ll have to change *everything* that follows—
          
          The Second Great War will play out differently; some characters may survive, new concepts will play important roles, aaaaand I’m going to attempt my own additions at the world-building and history behind Ardonia. Will this suck? Absolutely. Am I still gonna do it just to give the revision a more concrete background with some foundations given by the fanmade things I need to touch on? Like Remedium’s existence? Because that’s was inevitable from the start? Absolutely. <3

YKNOW WHAT I’m setting up a date: Either this works and I celebrate a bunch, or it doesn’t and I disappoint myself again but don’t lose much. 
          
          I’m going to attempt to get the prologue for Mystic War’s revision out byyyyyyyyy what’s today March 6th? By the 22nd. Random number, don’t know what’s on that day, don’t know if I’ll have plans DON’T EVEN KNOW IF THIS’LL WORK NO BACKSIES I’M DOING IT I’M DOING IT IF I KEEP WAITING I AIN’T EVER DOING IT
          
          (Future me please tell me I did it)

Was reading through the last chapters of MW and genuinely hyping myself up for some things I THOUGHT I’d included, only to realize I never wrote them dAMMIT YOUNGER ME 
          
          
          (Not mentioning incoming characters deaths the readers for that narrowly avoided, Ingressus and Achillean were *THAT* close to seeing each other again wow wow wow)

Just filled 3 pages on a Google Doc with odd consistence, parallels, and different instances of ‘magic’ all throughout the Songs of War universe while rereading the script and I’ve got loads to work with WE ARE SO BACK 
          
          (I say to the sound of crickets chirping)

I also get the MW writing was super sloppy and all, but seeing how many people were following along with it at the time is genuinely so sweet :(

Full-on giggling as I think back to the specifics of Mystic War, specifically whatever Thalleous had going on: Did younger-me even process that Thalleous died before both the Tidesinger + Deathsinger returned? Because I don’t remember giving him (OR INGRESSUS FOR THAT MATTER TO THIS MF BEING AROUND) any sort of reaction ._.
          
          (I promise to do this all justice in the revision I swear it, I’m already writing rough drafts :] )
