So on September 30th, Wattpad is going to be removing the newsfeed functions. On one hand, it doesn’t seem so bad but on the other, it just creates more problems with their users (who they obviously don’t care about).

The Newsfeed (and other people’s activities) were a way to get more story recommendations outside of Wattpad’s (which rarely picks things of your interests). I’m pretty sure the reason why they’re now deciding to remove it, much like the activity function, is because you are bound to see something you’d rather not see from others. Whether it be things you strongly disagree with or find downright offensive. It’s the internet it happens, there’s no changing that.

This is where the problem arises. Wattpad holds our hands a bit too much. Instead of troubleshooting, they just get rid of the source of the problems which ends up creating more problems. They need to start giving the users choices. Whether it be privatizing yours or muting others activities, Hiding comments on your newsfeed so you can just see what books other people have been reading, and encouraging people to block and mute people they don’t want anywhere near their account.

Unfortunately, it’s clear they won’t listen to us. It’s even more unlikely for them to listen to us if we just straight up stop using this app/website.

The whole situation with the Little Mermaid is so irritating to me. I get diversity is good and there are time when someone can just get the part right regardless of their skin color if your main goal is to pander to people for money it’s just stupid.

If Disney wanted a black princess movie they could of went with Princess and the Frog but apparently that’s none existent isn’t it? Tiana really is just a joke...
