A 7 year old girl's birthday falls on Halloween night  everything seems normal, until suddenly an emergency broadcast about vampire attacks flashes on TV! Professor Whitmore immediately realizes that something terrible is about to happen, the lights go out, soldiers arrive, and all three of them flee. But waiting for them in the alley below is a real, live vampire! Professor Whitmore already knew about the vampires so why did he never warn the little girl?

It is explained in the Fangs & Freedom Guide in a way the Professor did warn her, but he told her what she presumed was 'bedtime stories' also Emma was never meant to have existed. They were also on the run from the goverment and had to keep a low profile. The Professor didn't know the vampires would actually take over.
