Whenever you feel ignored or rejected, the first thought that appears in your mind is that you shouldn't have put in those efforts in the first place for people who didn't care about you and treated you like you were nothing.
It happens, and it's natural to feel frustrated because you gave your best just for them to acknowledge your efforts and to let them know that you support them. But they didn't understand you or your efforts. They didn't notice the things you did for them, but they were quick to look for your mistakes. And when you confront them about their behavior, they may start backfiring on you by bringing up sensitive topics that can trigger you at any time.
Because of this, you may choose to stay silent, and sometimes, some people decide to become heartless. In other words, they start showing less care.
I truly don't know how many times you have been in such situations, but all I want you to know is this: don't ever think that your efforts were useless or that you wasted your time by showing genuine care. You were actually trying to help someone, but maybe that person didn't have the emotional understanding to realize that someone was truly putting genuine effort into caring for them.
Negativity starts growing the moment you begin blaming yourself because you gave your efforts to someone. It hurts, I know, and I never said that it wouldn't. Yes, it will hurt.
But you need to remind and console yourself that some people simply choose not to appreciate genuine kindness. Sometimes, they may be too busy being drawn towards things and personalities that aren't genuine to notice the real care in front of them.
Your true self isn't proven by people who don't appreciate your genuine support. It is shown through your own actions, your thoughts, and the words you choose.
Don't let someone's inability to appreciate your kindness make you question whether your kindness was real or valuable.
