HI! Here’s my advice for story writing!!
planning is boring at times but very important when it comes to knowing what to write so, some questions to ask yourself.
1. Is this something you're writing for your enjoyment or others enjoyment?
2. If it's for you, maybe pick your favourite characters/crews/arcs. If it's for others, pick the most popular characters/crews/arcs to draw in readers.
3. Formatting. Is it x reader? Is it character x character? One shots? Or one long chaptered story? Is it written in first person? Second person? Past tense? Present tense? Is it a modern au? Canon universe?
Once you have a general idea of what you want you can start fleshing out stories. I always find certain characters are easier than others for not going ooc if that's something you're worried about. So Luffy is easy, Usopp, Brook, Ace, Sanji, Roger, Bartolomeo! They're very outgoing and loud, can't go wrong, they'd pretty much do anything and people will think, yeah that checks.
A little harder is like Law, Kid, Zoro, Sabo, Marco. It’s hard because they're either angsty or quiet, or there’s not enough knowledge on them. It's harder to believe some romantic things with them, and require a bit more thinking. Especially Law as he's very smart in his approaches and I find it hard not to dumb him down sometimes.
The most hard I find is like Aokiji, Izou, Rayleigh, Katakuri, Mihawk, Smoker. They're very smart and powerful, and strategise well. They also have very fixed personalities. Takes a lot of brain power sometimes for me to think things up for them, and convince people of romantic things they could do or scenarios they end up in.

@ImaDebaser Thank you so, so much this will help i already know that its a x reader and its canon universe. but I do agree with that you said about how it matters an witch character to choose but I really like Zoro and Shanks as well as Ace so its one of those three I want to do. Zoro is more of the quiet and lay back person while Shanks is stupid mixed with a smart thought poses. Ace on the other hand is loud and quirky, he is a goof ball but can get serious when things go down. for the first, second and third person I have no idea first person will most likely be the easiest but at times I might want to switch it up that way It's not just stuck like that you know? Anyway thank you again and if I need you help I will ask you without second thought on of the reasons I asked you is because I love the way you right you stories and its like you understand the characters. I'm all caught up with one piece so I could really do anything but I like to involve post and pre-time skip because they're both so good! so that is how far i have gotten in the thought poses.

So picking a character, might be better for the first time, to pick someone you think you’d 1, enjoy writing for, but 2, you’re not going to find it hard to write them and want to give up!
Now, if you're struggling for ideas, prompts work well. Following canon events works. Tropes are good too.
Some popular things within the fandom usually. ASL stories. Some with or without an x reader, growing up together and things. Sanji and Zoro always goes hard, again can be with a reader. Some like ZoSan. Others like the idea of those two argumentative bozo’s arguing over them. Supernova trio is good because there’s a lot going on there. Add a reader into the mix and you get the best of all worlds. Happy sweet Luffy. Angsty serious Law. Angry hotheaded Kid. A lot of people also like Law x Strawhat reader when he's on the ship with them. Frobin is a good character x character ship.
Once you've got an idea on characters, it’s easier to find situations that fit them nicely. Like a serious character, sometimes angst is good. A lot of people seem to enjoy angst with sunshine characters too. In the one piece world there is endless island opportunities.
So once you’ve figured out, who, where and what you want it to be about, it can be good to then plan out from start to finish some bullet points and episode references if needed. Or just go in blind and write and let the story write itself. I do a mixture of both honestly and I find the stories where I start writing with no plan often times comes out so much better. It's kind of infuriating lol!
Anyway, my brain is usually kinda overflowing with ideas so if you need anymore help after this, do let me know!!
