@yublen_18 in my opinion you shouldn’t change anything about the book. Leave it as is and carry out your vision as before. There are very few authors who can successfully write about an unreliable narrator and actually succeed (check out the silent patient as an example, such an amazing twist that changed every readers perspective and opinion). Some people like being hand fed information whether it’s about the literature that they’re consuming, or intellectual movies because it forces them to think more than they are willing. Now it’s not your fault that they couldn’t comprehend the intention behind your characters motivations. They came into the book with the already preconceived notion that their goal was to hate two certain characters and defend one. People who think like that cannot really be argued against nor explained. So I suggest leave it and continue your book!
