Hey, everyone!
          Just an update to say that I'm making good progress on editing the first half of Fire and Magic, which is now the new Book 1 in the Jadori Series and has a different title. I will reveal the title soon.
          I have thought of new names for all 8 books in the series, but once I actually write those books, the names might change. They will be revealed in time...
          I paused writing and posting chapters in April and got stuck into editing Book 1, which was a good move because I didn't have the extra stress of having to have a chapter ready each week and I could put all my energy into editing.
          Even after doing that, I'm still behind on posting new chapters and I apologise for that. I've hit a section of the story where a lot of things will be happening all at once and I'm redoing my plan of how the sequence of events will unfold. Then I can write the scenes.
          I'm aiming to be finished editing Book 1 by the end of June and will be calling for beta readers, so if you'd like to read the new version (some scenes have been completely rewritten) and you would like to give me your honest feedback, please let me know in the comments, or email me at sue@susanmckenzieauthor.com.

Do you have a creative eye? Do you love witchy things like candles and incense and dreamcatchers? I want to design a logo or sign for a little store in Angel Falls (in my Fire and Magic story) that sells these things. It's called Mystical Encounters.
          
          Any and all ideas are welcome. Should I have stars and moons on it? A dreamcatcher? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

How Fire and Magic Was Born.
          
          I had an idea one day where a teenage girl was in a mental institution because she could see ghosts and they thought she was seeing things.
          
          Another idea came to me straight afterwards.
          
          I could see people sitting around a table during a séance and one of them could see ghosts. There was an older guy standing behind the medium conducting the séance and he was scoffing at her. 
          
          He moved in front of her, waved his hand in front of her face and said, “You can’t see me, can you? You’re a fake.”
          
          Then he leaned right down in her face and spoke loudly and she didn’t even flinch.
          The girl who could see him was struggling to keep a straight face. She was so close to laughing out loud, but she didn’t want to get into trouble.
          
          So the story was formed in my mind and I kept adding to it from there. So far, I can’t see a way to add in a séance without it seeming unnatural, like it doesn’t belong in the story, so I think I’ll leave it out. I won’t try to shoehorn it in if it’s not going to work or make sense.

          Just a shout out to say that I am working on a new cover for Fire and Magic and have put a more interesting temporary cover up. I think it will get more people interested to read the story with the character facing us and the fire behind her.
