Helloooo everyone!
I was a bit bored and wanted to cure my writer's block, so I am here to have a bit of a chit-chat.
I recently came across a few readers whose whole agenda is to leave passive-aggressive comments all over my book. Have you noticed people like this before?
My whole point is: if you don't like a book, you're better off leaving it. There's no compulsion, right? I am not here holding my kitten (btw, her name is Malli - to know more, check out my headspace book! I'll be updating about my fur-baby soon) in my hands and asking her to scratch your arms if you don't read.
Some readers are genuine and just comment whatever they feel, but some, I guess, are just reading to be shitty to the writer. If my characters feel like shit to you, you are welcome to comment about it once and leave the book. There have been instances like that before, and I actually appreciated those readers who openly told me they won't keep reading because of X, Y, or Z reasons.
As a writer, I have full claim to my creativity. I can write all kinds of characters. But I never justify anything that is morally or ethically wrong; I never go out of my way to defend a character if I know they are in the wrong.
But I guess a few human beings just find a way to enjoy inflicting pain on themselves by reading about characters they don't like, just to diss them through the whole book. What a bunch of masochists, huh?
Anyway, if you are reading this and feel an immediate need to binge all my books just to leave passive-aggressive comments, I think you don't deserve the pain you're inflicting on yourself. You may leave my book in the middle, it'll be so much better for your peace of mind. I am not a therapist, but I think you might need one to check what the problem is.
To my other readers and writers: have you ever come across people like this?
The funniest part is I’m not even famous enough to have "haters." I only have about 10 readers anyway, bro, so losing a toxic one won't hurt!
