"Come on! Come on! Fuck's sake!" Denji growled, his upper body slumping forward as his thumbs hammered the controller buttons with a manic intensity.
Yuuki let out a breath that was half-laugh, half-sigh.
"Relax, man. It's just a game."
The final strike connected. Yuuki's avatar staggered backward into the digital abyss, and the moment the prompt for a Fatality materialized on the glass, Denji's eyes flared with predatory triumph. With terrifying speed, he executed the exact sequence of inputs. On screen, Scorpion surged forward in a brutal display of incineration, reducing the ice ninja to ash as the word FINISH HIM dissolved into silence.
For a heartbeat, Denji froze, staring at the television monitor as if waiting for the illusion to shatter. Then, violently, he thrust both arms toward the ceiling.

Yuuki burst into laughter, shaking his head.

Denji stabbed a finger toward the screen, entirely insulated by his own logic.

"Sure it does." Denji dropped the controller into his lap, sinking back against the cushions with a crooked grin. "Besides, I've barely touched this piece of junk. You've been playing it forever."
Yuuki chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "So now you're inventing excuses?"
"It's not an excuse, it's a fucking fact. Keep playing me, and I'll wipe the floor with you."
