Why is it that with some fandoms, you need full attention and hyperfixation to write, whereas with others you don't need to interact at all to get ideas?

Like- I stopped reading Warrior Cats years ago, and I'm not interested in anything happening in the fandom, yet I'm able to think up a consistent and sensible plot for it. While some of the fandoms I left only a year ago I wouldn't be able to write anything for because I just don't feel it. Damn. I hope hfjone is the "lasting type" fandom because I'm feeling out of drive recently. I think I've cut myself off too much.

Or maybe book fandoms are just more engrained into your brain than the internet media? After all, a lot of stuff happens here, maybe it's harder to get attached to it, you know, short attention span and whatever. Idk. If anyone has thoughts on this, I'll be happy to read.

@Pryzonmia Huh, I guess you're right with the 'passive thought' thing. I do find that I think about ONE less nowadays, even though I was hyperfixated for a year straight.

And that last thing... is comforting, in a way. That as long as you remember an art piece, it lives - in you.

@Sunset_Puzzle Anyways, I just wanted to continue a tiny bit on the ramble, now that I've thought a bit.

I guess it's pretty easy to recall ONE in a way because it's unexplained, and mysteries tend to stay around in your mind more if you think about it more/ consume the content surrounding it more.
When you're engaged with content, you retain the memory of the plotline/story in your head, then it becomes kind of a 'passive thought' in the sense that you think about it less, but it's still in your memory.

ONE is kind of fading, probably because some people rely on fanfiction, animations, videos, etc to be made on some fandoms to actually be entertained and stay in it- not that it's anything bad, but it's certainly why fanfiction has more purpose than getting an idea out.

To be fair, as long as you can remember it, then ONE will technically be 'alive' in some way because you're thinking about it, even if you're the only one.

Anyways, this is the part where I forgot what I was going to say, so my blabbering has ended, I guess.

@Pryzonmia True. ONE has many lore- and plot-related "blank spots". Stone's whole ordeal is unexplained, the waiting room sparks curiosity, the families of the contestants can be explored, and of course, the ending.

After you mentioned it, I started wondering about whether or not ONE's story is complex - I've had the odd impression that it was, but after thinking about it, I can agree it isn't. Not many lore points can be picked from it, and many characters don't even have proper backstories (the only ones are Bryce and Charlotte - Liam's last work day doesn't provide much about his life, Taylor was only in the few seconds of the trailer, and Amelia is not given a flashback at all. And from other batches, I think only Circle has more relevant backstory. Stone and Abstracty could be expanded on, but they aren't). Also, the second season is entirely in Liam's POV, so that *does* simplify the story, there's only one plotline to follow.

I hope this all means people still remember it.

I guess I'm already hit with the nostalgia over this fandom and I'm wishing there were more things happening... the AUs got a little bit inactive lately, here on wattpad I rarely find something new in the #hfjone tag, and on Ao3 people are mainly posting oneshots now. Even on Youtube the animations quietened down. I did hear that tumblr is active, though - I hope it is! From what I know, tumblr is a powerful site, so if the fandom is still residing there, it means it's still alive.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

ONE showed me how much power a story can hold. How beautiful it is to be a writer.

I dream to someday create a story as meaningful.

Someday, when I'm confident in myself and have my own tale to tell.

@Sunset_Puzzle ONE's story is truly just so incredibly brilliant, Having a story being compared something like ONE would be a compliment I'm looking forward to you receiving. Keep up the good work!!

NEVERMIND X2. The rewrite is out!

I'm really proud of writing Liam more realistically this time. You can let me know what you think of that.
If anyone wants a list of what changed:
-- TWO: second half of the chapter
-- THREE: actually written from scratch! I was unhappy with this one for so long and finally decided I just needed to redo it whole.
-- FIVE: also practically written from scratch, to match with ch.3 :)
-- SIX: welp, it's raining now, and Liam prefers the desk
-- SEVEN/EIGHT: not that much, as it turned out - but I tried to rewrite our little menacing lad a bit.

you don't gotta read it again to know the plot, don't worry.

i love you guys, thanks for your support <3
