Hey guys. I started a new story. It’s an anime fan fic. It’s based off of gachiakuta. I hope you enjoy

I have universal healthcare. I don’t have any insurance. No one does. Doctors decide on treatment and you get it! That’s it!

If I get sick I go to a doctor and get treated. I can’t see how insurance has anything to do with a medical decision.

SymoneAnn

Insurance doesn’t practice medicine, but they often decide whether they’ll pay for that treatment. For many tests, procedures, medications, surgeries, and medical equipment, the doctor has to get prior authorization from the insurance company. If insurance says it isn’t medically necessary, they can deny coverage. You can still choose to get the treatment, but then you may have to pay for it yourself or appeal the decision. That’s why insurance can affect what care people actually receive.

The doctor makes the medical recommendation. Insurance decides whether they’ll cover it. If they deny prior authorization because they don’t consider it medically necessary, many people can’t afford to proceed, so the treatment doesn’t happen unless the denial is overturned or the patient pays out of pocket.

I’m really confused. What do insurance people know about medicine??

SymoneAnn

That's just how insurance and the government works. They get to choose who gets what. also, I’m sorry if it’s not the best I’m not the best writer. I’m also writing from pain as I’m dealing with some of the chronic illness stuff that’s in this book so please bear with me.
