"Not once did I ever feel needed in his presence.

"Everywhere he went, he never looked back to see if I would follow.

"Everything he said, he stood firm and didn't care if I supported it.

"Everything he loved, he held close and cherished it without a glance at me.

"Not once did I ever feel like I had to be there for him.

"But despite all that, intentional or not, he was there for me.

"Everywhere I went, he'd find time to join and play with me.

"Everything I said, he listened attentively and gave it value in his life.

"Everything I loved, he respected and protected, almost as if it were his own life.

"To me, he was not a permanent friend.

"He was a visitor.

"A shooting star that ascends and descends in my world whenever it pleases, seeking nothing else but to get a word or a smile out of my lips.

"A star that shone and twinkled and danced around in the night sky, paying little mind to the world around him as he strives to see me smile.

"And through it all, he never needed me.

"Not even once.

"Perhaps at some point, he realized that I was tired of being needed. Of being a star that continues to fulfill wishes until I one day burn out and disappear.

"That was why he left, shining in my absence.

"And I loved him for it.

"To this day, I still thank him, for living his beautiful, shimmering life without me.

"To this day, I still thank him... for not needing me."
