          Today’s my birthday!!!!

Just watched Lightyear!! Here are some of my thoughts (spoiler warning!!!!!):
          
          I’d give it like an 8/10. Not the most amazing pixar film I’ve seen, but certainly not deserving of its bad rep. It was a flop, which is unfortunate because I thought it was pretty good! It was wholesome and funny and brought back a lot of references from the original Toy Story franchise. The plot was straightforward enough that it was relatively easy to understand, but complex enough that it was engaging and exciting to watch. The ending made me a little sad because Buzz didn’t go back in time to see Alicia again. I mean I was kinda expecting something like that to happen, and I understand why he did it, but it’s still a bit sad. Like, he didn’t even get to say goodbye to her. Ever since he started the mission, he hardly saw her at all, until it was too late. But when given the chance to reverse that, he doesn’t. Like I said, I get it, for plot purposes and character development it makes sense, but still felt a little off to me. 
          
          Also I love Sox. Enough said. 
          
          Ok, I know you are all expecting me to talk about this, because it’s literally all this movie is known for, so I might as well just jump into it. The “gay kiss” between Alicia and Kiko was nothing to get worked up over. This was far from the first pixar movie to have a queer character, even if it is the first to feature an on-screen kiss. The entire scene of Alicia growing old lasted like a few minutes; the kiss itself was a peck that lasted literally a second. I just find it strange that that’s the only reputation this movie holds is the fact that it features a lesbian couple. It’s sad because the movie is so much more than that, but a lot of people can’t watch it/won’t give the movie a chance because of one small scene. 
          
          Anyways, all in all, Lightyear is a pretty solid film. I enjoyed it and would be up for watching it again. If you haven’t watched it, you should! It’s on Disney+ for free and totally worth the experience.

Sooo sorry for the lack of activity lately, I’ve been at a family reunion all week in the mountains without service or available wifi, so I haven’t been able to update y’all
          
          Anyways, the reunion was a lot of fun! Now we’re making the 11 hour drive to my grandparents house today, staying there, then driving 2 hours back to my house on Sunday. I have the rest of Sunday to recover, and then I have band camp for 2 weeks :’) As excited as I am for band, it’s very inconvenient timing. And then I have less than a week before school starts after that. 
          
          I’m really sorry for my lack of activity, and I know it sounds like I’m spitting out excuses by this point, but with FSY, family reunions, band camp, and school coming up, I seriously don’t get a break. 
          
          Don’t ever forget how amazing you guys are! I love you all <33
