Quick question, why do parents ask their kid a question, and when a the kid answers, they say "I don't believe you"? Like, why'd you ask then, if you aren't going to believe their answer?

~Story Description~
two childhood friends, separated for a little by their abusive families, finally meet once more. a new family, old and new relations, more friendships.. a series of unknown events hit, what will happen? idk- tbh
!trigger warning will be added at the begging of chapters and at the start of where it will be triggering!
what are the triggers? - self harm, abuse, yelling, arguing, mentions of blood, food, starvation, panic attacks, scars, dangerous actions with knives, attempts of suicide, harmful thoughts/voices
some extra info -please read this- both writers who decided to work on this book together will only go to limits so we don't trigger ourselves, this is for safety reasons!! please do not pressure us to continue with descriptions or pov's if there is a "trigger warning" at the start. please respect this, thanks <33
