How do you go about creating abstract characters? For  example, poetry. How do you characterize a set of poetry so it exists as a living, breathing character with thoughts and emotions and dreams?

@TBirdy72 I think, perhaps, it starts small. like learning about plants: you first learn about their colours and smells, and then you move forward with what they do and how they do it and the cellular structure. the same way, you create an organism by adding small things until it is grand. you learn about an aspect of a person and apply a like attribute to your character. not the same, but something that compliments your creation. add and revise and build over and over, all the while, keeping in mind what it is you truly want, even if you can't put it into words. it definitely doesn't happen over night. keep at it.

So I unpublished all of my old stuff. It occured to me that I wasn't producing anything because I was convincing myself that everything was okay, and that I was fine. It is not, and I am not, but I'm going to attempt to use my pain and hurt to create something positive, something meaningful, and begin again. I'm terribly sorry for being such a shit follower to some of you. You've supported me and read my work, and I haven't returned the favor. So sorry. Please continue to be awesome. -Marie
