Preview of Chapter 10
I put my arm out to stop her from storming down the bleachers. “Ignore her. Nathan’s probably just feeling lonely.”
“So? He doesn’t need to hook up with the walking STD.” Shanie screeched, causing the people around us to stare. Kellan shushed her with red, embarrassed cheeks.
“Thank you, for that wonderful cheer of encouragement, ladies. Now, everyone please take your seats as the game begins.”
Everyone went quiet at the sound of the announcer. But Shanie started growling low in her throat as Jasmine and Holly led the team up to where we sat. Jasmine sat two rows in front of us, throwing her perfect blonde hair over her shoulder as she looked back at me, examining my jersey.
“Nice jersey, loser.” She commented, eyeing up the number on it as recognition lit up in her eyes. “How did you manage to steal that from the pack house?”
Shanie rolled her eyes, noticing my lack of care to the blonde. “She didn’t steal it, moron. Casey gave it to her.”
Jasmine raised one perfectly plucked brow and turned around, giving her silent retort. That made Shanie puff up once more. But then the game started, and her eyes were following Nathan as he caught the ball and charged for the end zone.
“And an amazing catch zone by number 32, Nathan White. And he seems to be slowing down as the other team catches up- oh! That’s gotta hurt!”
Shanie bit her nails as Nathan was helped up off the ground from under the heavy weight of an East High Viper.
“Completely unscratched,” Kellan said, looking over the Viper, shocked.
Shanie didn’t say anything as the teams set up again at the 20 yard line, so I decided to speak up. “Did Casey actually give this to me, or did you just lie?” I whispered into her ear, watching her reaction. Turning to give me a sly smile, she winked.
“Of course he wanted you to have it, dimwit,” She whispered back with a small laugh.
