It is fun but don't let anyone stop you from writing your story. It is going to sound bad but it doesn't matter how good or bad the story is. What is important is that you wrote it and learned from it. I know with each story I have written I have learned stuff. Be it grammar, spelling, even dialogue I have improved. Look at what you have done, look at authors you like, and then write something better than the last.
