Are you actually from Scotland? Anything I should know? I'm visiting there in late August to early September for my cousin since she's getting married. Never been there before.

Depends on where you go, but generally don’t be surprised at the amount of old guys that will strike up conversations with you, even when you’re in a store you could get into a 2-3 min conversation with the shopkeeper. Crime is a pretty bad issue in our country but don’t be out late and in poorer places and you should be good, definitely try out some of the takeaway’s. Don’t feel the need to hide an accent, most people will understand you. And the same applies Vice versa the only places where accents are hard to listen to are Glasgow and Argyll and Bute If anymore spring to mind I’ll let you know but it’s not all that different from the US or any of the other western countries
