Okay little rant here so bare with me if anyone even decides to read this.
ALRIGHTY LET'S GET INTO THIS. So you know those little like feelings where you really want physical attention or like want somebody to be all touchy feely with you and like cuddle you and all that jazz. WELL, TODAY SOMETHING HAPPENED AND NOW I REALLY WANT AFFECTION. LIKE WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW TOUCH STARVED I AM FEELING RIGHT NOW. AND LIKE THE ONE PERSON WHO I WOULD LIKE LITERALLY PASS OUT ON THE FLOOR AND START SEIZING IF THEY GAVE ME EVEN A HUG, DECIDED TO LIVE IN GERMANY, SO NOW SHE CAN'T BE HERE AND MY FRIENDS EITHER DON'T CARE OR DON'T WANT TO CUDDLE WITH ME SO ALL I HAVE IS MY CAT AND SHE'S GETTING PISSED AT ME. Okay so like does anyone have any tips on how to motivate yourself to write or come up with characters because if so I could realllyyyyyy use some help. :')

I don’t have many tips on how to motivate yourself- but I do have tips on characters.
(These are just some things I use, they might not work for everyone tho and that’s ok)
1. I try to look at other characters from either books I like, or fandoms (*cough* DSMP *cough*), and I mainly look at their traits and sometimes even their backstory. This can help you realize how many options there are, and I get inspired by these things a lot honestly. The background of the characters are always diverse, as well as the traits.
2. I also like looking at how the characters are laid out in the story. So like a pro and con list but for the trait(s)/backstory the character has, and how the author shows that in the story.
3. Try to mix it up! For some characters, the background might be easier to start writing, as it can help you determine their traits based off of the past they’ve had. For other characters, it might be easier to start with the traits first so you can use those to determine your backstory.
4. Try not to make your characters too overpowered, or underpowered. All characters have their strengths, but they all also have weaknesses. It’s part of life, and if this is in a world where weaknesses don’t exist- welp- I dunno what to tell you-
5. Just be creative! Your the creator and you can do basically whatever you want when creating a character. Your character doesn’t even have to be human, or animal! That’s the part I find fun in writing. It’s your story and you can do whatever you want with it.
6. Names are hard yes, but there are so many names out there, it’s easy to come across one that’ll fit. And if you want to do something that you feel is used to often but you still like the theme, search for words that are related to the name, like synonyms or anything along those lines. Words from a different language would also work! Like Greek names for example.
I’m going to stop myself before this gets to long- but yea. That’s kinda what I have. Hope it helps lmao (:
