Hello and welcome! @PoppyQ2
In general, writers often create characters with experiences different from their own, and that can absolutely work well, especially when it’s approached with care and intention.
What usually matters most to readers is how respectfully and thoughtfully the condition or experience is represented. Taking time to research, avoiding stereotypes, and portraying your character as a fully developed individual (beyond just the condition) can go a long way.
It can also be helpful to seek feedback from people who are familiar with or have lived experience related to what you’re portraying, if possible. That can provide valuable insight and help ensure the representation feels authentic.
Hope this helps, and wishing you all the best with your story!
