The Characters
Kaelen "Kae" Thorne (The Enforcer/Heir): Cold, ruthless, and meticulously organized. He’s the feared second-in-command and heir to one of the city's most powerful crime families. He values loyalty and payment above all else. He has a piercing gaze that rarely shows emotion but can cut through anyone. He’s known for getting what he wants, one way or another.
Julian "Jules" Vane (The Reluctant Pawn): Bright, artistic, and fiercely independent, but burdened by his family’s struggles. He works hard, trying to keep his father’s small, struggling art gallery afloat. He’s sharp-tongued and doesn’t back down easily, even when facing a terrifying figure like Kaelen.
The Core Plot
Julian’s father, desperate to save his failing gallery, makes a fatal mistake: he borrows a substantial sum from the Thorne syndicate, believing he can pay it back quickly. When the deadline arrives, the gallery is still bleeding money, and his father is nowhere near repayment.
Kaelen, known for his unyielding pursuit of debts, personally arrives to collect. Julian, trying to protect his ailing father from the syndicate’s brutal methods, steps forward and offers himself. He makes a desperate deal: he will work off his father’s debt, whatever it takes, for as long as it takes.
Kaelen, intrigued by Julian’s courage and perhaps a flicker of something in his defiant eyes, agrees. But his terms are harsh: Julian will become his personal assistant/manservant, bound to his side, privy to the syndicate’s dark operations, and under Kaelen’s absolute control until the debt is paid.
