Ugg, ok, so if you choose to read my waffle in below message, obviously I wrote it in one hit. Hence having yo split it over 3 messages and choosing to use ‘Reply’ I figured it would then be all in sequence…HA so wrong was I. So again, if you choose to read them, do so by Main message first but then Reply No. 2 followed by Reply No 1. I totally forgot the list most recent message first - sorry. But I do hope some of my waffle may help with you Text To Speech issue.
If you prefer to stick with Wattpad’s Text To Speech function it may be handy to know (I’m pretty sure they are still there), in my massive saved book collections there are 2 folders that are titled with reference to ‘Text To Speech’. Now I’m pretty sure most were ‘Complete’ as it’s my preference to read in one go but they will be a mix of genres as having the Text to Speech was only reason my choice on bas based on.
          Again, hope something helps!

Hi Terri, hope it’s ok to call you that. Sorry if this seems nosy but I had noticed you’d left a few author’s messages about ‘Text To Speech’.

When I first started reading online books (several years back now and I’ve only been on Wattpad), I too was asking many authors the same question about if they could add the Text To Speech feature to their stories/book. Now this was several ago, but the main response from authors was ‘they had no control over what stories would have the feature’ (and that seriously sucked if the awesome book was a series but only book 1 had the feature!). I even went as far as messaging Wattpad about this and the Text to Speech function. Their response was that it was only currently a ‘trial’ featured and thus they were only applying it to random authors stories (so authors didn’t even get a choice - weird!), so I stuck to only stories with this function by using the ‘Search’ tab writing ‘texttospeech’.
Now I used to listed to music while working (well sewing/housework/attempted house renovation since a debilitating car accident but you get the gist…), and while music is great it can also become repetitive, boring and just…well ‘Ugg!’. Hence me wanting the audio for stories.

After Note: content sooo long it will go over 2 (hopefully not 3), messages so I’ll continue by using ‘Reply’ to my this message to keep it all in order.

Now I have no idea what you use to read your stories on, as in computer, phone, tablet etc. but I did find a solution by using features on my device. Now I use my iPhone or iPad and am in no way tech savvy. But going into my Settings on either device there is a section called ‘ACCESSIBILITY’. I’m pretty sure the same feature would be something similar on other brands and devices including computers. So under ‘Accessibility’ is all your assistance needs for vision and hearing impaired etc., and from this menu there is ‘SPOKEN CONTENT’.

So an example: under ‘Australian’ (that’s really not seeing as I’m an Ozzie myself, but eh!), you have full 3 options of ‘Karen’ [the basic - tend to be quite computerised but low amount of ‘mb’ usage]; ‘Karen (Ultimate)’ [much more human but takes more ‘mb’], and ‘Karen (Premium)’ [very realistic but does take more ‘mb’]. Some voices only have the basic option, some have that and the ‘Ultimate’, while others include both of those plus the ‘Premium’ option but you do have to download any that are ‘Ultimate’ or ‘Premium’ (all free though and totally worth it). Once chosen you can go back to the previous menu where things like Rate, Pitch, Timbre…can lol be changed for your selected voice. Then when finished changing anything, go back again (which is the ‘Spoken Content’ menu) and there is a listing for ‘SPEECH RATE’ with a slide bar. Now you can move it to what ever rate you want them to read your stories at. Note that this slide bar is more incremental in speed than if you try to change the speed on voice reader bar that pops up each time you do the two-finger swipe on screen to start the voice reader. You do also have to swipe to start the voice or each page so you need your device within arms reach, but no highlighting sections or scrolling down the page is necessary - it reads it all (annoyingly that includes the pages votes; number of prior reads or repeated name of an icon the author typed like 100 of across the page to section off parts of the story, damn!). But if you scroll up so only the beginning of story content shows on screen and THEN do the finger swipe, it only starts from there skipping any unwanted data or author babble. Ok, so now I REALLY hope you use an Apple product since I waffled all that but sure android would have pretty similar. Hope helps, good luck!

Within this section found I can select/turn on ‘SPEEK SCREEN’ function to have screen content read aloud by just doing a downward, two-finger swipe from top of screen and BINGO! It automatically starts reading the page and has a tiny control bar show up with play, stop, pause, speech speed, etc; and that will minimise itself after a after seconds so only a half invisible icon remains so you can quickly access the controls any time. Now within that ‘Spoken Content’ section within accessible there are soooo many features to explore. Best is all the additional choices you have for the voice (way better than Text To Speech!). The first is under ‘VOICES’. Select it, then you’ll see a whole list of languages (English for me). So ‘ENGLISH’ I think had a default name for a voice with an arrow, select that name and then a screen of all sorts comes up. Top of the list is ‘VOICE’ and again you’d see the default and arrow, which you select and up comes the mega list! WOW, the selection from male/female with a vast selection of each from an array of countries (so take your pick from several accented yummy sounding males to soothing or sultry females - whatever your ears love most). Then there is a list under ‘SIRI’ as well as ‘NOVELTY’ - seriously odd! Now the human lives are each given a name and a ‘play’ symbol in front of the names gives you great samples to help choose. These voice names tend to also be listed with up to 3 choices.

I see you have only a few chapters posted. What is your posting schedule?
I do not normally read books that are not complete. The only author I will do that for is Crystal Schear (sp?)because she is my favorite author on Wattpad AND because her stories are fully written before she starts posting them.

Hello, TerriLynn22, I noticed you archived Depth of Sacrifice and I hope that means you liked the story. If so, then may I suggest 'Canaisis, the last Living Ship' Chronicles for a good long read? The story is a slow burn you might enjoy and Volume Three is almost complete. I'm betting you can't read all three in five days, but if you do, we will dedicate a chapter in your name. Be sure to vote so we can track your progress.
                        Sincerely Raven

@TerriLynn22 The text-to-speech audio of Chapter 1 of #Canaisis is now available on Ream. Let us know what you think of the narrating voice. ;-)

@TerriLynn22 As it turns out, I've only just started posting #DepthsOfSacrifice as an audiobook on our Ream page (3 parts so far). When that is complete, I'll start working on producing audio chapters of #Canaisis -- however, that is a long-term project as it is a lot of work. For this reason, our audio versions will be available for Colonist+ subscribers and above only, if you'd like to check it out there. Here is our page: https://reamstories.com/annikaravenrock

Any chance that your books can be TextToSpeech? I am having some issues with my eyes so I am not able to read a lot.
