You stand on a hot, black sand beach. After some while of looking around, you would begin to realize,  it was only a small, almost bare island. 
How did you get here?
you simply, just don't know. The only possible ways you could have gotten here, would be some form of ship, or flying vessel. Yet, there was simply nothing here.
surrounding this island was an endless, midnight blue ocean, unlike any that you had seen before. 
It was dark, almost menacing. Far off in the distance, small, odd shapes could be seen floating in the sky, and, with a moments worth of examination,  you may realize, they were large floating islands. 

At such a realization,  you may begin to realize, this was what was known as 'The Safe Haven' 
The ocean that surrounded you, was infested with viscous monsters of sailors lore. Massive Kraken' scowered the bottom of the seemingly endless ocean, rising to the top only at the sights of something floating upon the surface. 
Giant Levathian's swam under the shadows cast by the sky islands, Protecting anything of which dewlled upon the floating chunks of earth.
Sirens swam along side ships, luring sailors with their lovely, hypnotic songs into a kiss, to drag them to their wattery depths of the ocean, where they would drown. 
Flying in the skys, were large Harpys, half woman, and half bird, attacking any of Ill will who try to enter. 
The island itself had its own Guardian, a noble Phoenix,  a beautiful Flaming bird.

Surrounding the Sky Islands, is a strong, anti-magical barrier. All magic becomes nullified, no longer to be used against any being who lived here. 
This, was The Safe Haven. 
Anyone seeking refuge, is welcomed, if you can pass the tests of this treacherous ocean, in which no ship has ever been in and back out.
