[SPOILERS for: The Luminaries by Susan Dennard. TL;DR, good series do read!!!! Also this is gonna be long. I need an actual book review book here to yap]
As you can probably guess from that warning I’m reading Susan Dennard’s series The Luminaries (pretty good would recommend) and since it’s a magical monster world of course there are werewolves
Again this is a great book but I’ve spent the entirety of the three books in the series trying to figure out whether I just pick up on writer things easier since I too write or if it was actually meant to be obvious that Jay (the main love interest) was the werewolf.
Like I clocked this mf two chapters in, his eyes are grey which seemed like a very wolf-ish trait and he was already characterized as someone who never slept and skipped school a lot so I was immediately like “Hmm I wonder if the werewolf briefly mentioned earlier is him. Unless that’s not even relevant.” And then it became VERY relevant and I was VERY RIGHT
Susan Dennard PLEASE HOW OBVIOUS WAS IT SUPPOSED TO BE I FEEL SMART BUT ALSO STUPID BECAUSE WHAT IF THAT WAS INTENTIONAL AND IM JUST PICKING UP THE HINTS OBVIOUSLY DROPPED IN
Anyway go read the Luminaries series it’s good, if you like romance the romance is an ex-best friend to lovers sort of thing but they don’t really become an “item” and start kissing and stuff until late 2nd book-3rd book (fun fact I struggle to read romance/romantasy books, I usually can’t stand it) and most of the plot is actual cool stuff (monster hunting and a secret society in the woods, banger :3).
Also i headcanon Winnie as high-functioning autistic aint no way a neurotypical has this level of carnal knowledge of the monster dictionary book
