Hi @TheAmbys !

I have a quick question regarding my Ambys submission. My story was marked as complete when I submitted it, as required. However, while revisiting it, I noticed a few typos in some of the later chapters that I would like to correct. Since the submission deadline has not passed yet, would it be okay for me to make minor edits to fix those typos, or would editing the story affect my submission in any way?

          Thank you!

Hi! It's me again. I have a question about the submission form. I noticed that there is an option that says, “I made an error in a previous submission. Please use this one and delete the first story.”

Since the submission deadline has not passed yet, would it be okay for me to correct those typos and then submit the form again using that option so that the corrected version replaces my original submission?

I know that post-submission editing is not encouraged, so I wanted to ask before doing anything. I wouldn't be changing the story itself, only correcting a few typos. Thank you!

Hello Writers!

For this week's Wooly Wishes we're hearing from @AriaOfStorms!

Their words of encouragement are: Expect the unexpected. Truly. In writing, in contests, in every aspect of your Wattpad journey. Someone somewhere will think your book is their favorite, will love one of your characters and if you write what you want to read, it might even be one of the Amby's judges. You absolutely can do this if you commit to yourself and your characters. If they feel real, your story feels real.

They say: I'm so excited to see the entries this year, especially after the 2026 ONC, with so many talented and unique entries. Good luck everyone!! I will absolutely be rooting for you.

Their advice on writing is: Remember, your characters are just people. Have the conversation in your head. Have the conversation out loud. Would you say that? Can you hear someone else? Experiment with tone, body movement, energy. Do you have that cousin who eats so fast they get food everywhere? Cheese stuck to their fingers? A mom who is obsessed with day time television? People are more than their work or standby. I challenge you to write people, not words. I know you can do it. The best stories don't have characters. They have people :)

Hello Writers!

If you missed it, the form to submit your story to The Ambys is now open and will be until the 31st of August.

While this is ongoing we are launching our weekly activity we like to call Wooly Wishes.

In this we will be posting words of encouragement, well wishes and writing advice from past Amby Top Picks right here on our message board.

We are kicking off with @ZonderZorg who says: I was both delighted and surprised to be named an Ambys Top Pick – surprised because I had thought it such a remote possibility. Don't let your doubts cause you to shy away from entering. Entering is the only way to win – and to be surprised. I wish you the best of luck with this year's contest.

For writing advice they suggest: Engage your readers immediately, and keep them engaged all the way through to a satisfying ending. Whatever comes between those two points must constantly pique interest. This works equally well for both pantsers and planners.

Stay tuned as we bring you more advice and encouragement from fellow Wattpadders! =)

I found a mistake with your forms.
Spell-checking and proofreading are not considered assisted AI. Assisted AI is having your work rewritten by AI in the proofreading process. It is using a prompt to proof- and rewrite. I have written an article on AI. Assisted AI a very specific thing. Because I did not use ChatGPT OR META OR GROK to rewrite or proofread and used my basic proofreaders, I placed it under not-assisted AI.
Nor did I have it rewrite or rephase my poetry.

@TheAmbys ... Thank you for clarifying.... I kind of thought that would be the case.... next year then :) Wishing you the best.... and if I may offer a plug... please consider checking out Moskito The Curse in September. Thank you again!

@MoskitoSeries hello there, since The Ambys close August 31st we require that all the chapters of the work be published on or before that date to be eligible for judging. There really isn't an alternative to that since all judging takes place on Wattpad.

I'm considering participating this year, but I have a few questions regarding both stories I plan to submit.

The first one being whether or not parody/cover songs at the end of the story (written for characters in the story) could be an issue when judging. And, while we're on the topic of songs included with the story, what about completely original songs? Will those also be an issue?

Second, almost every completed form of fiction I've written does have another account credited as a "co-writer." They don't have access to my account, nor did they even send me any lines they wanted me to write at all, so they mostly helped with brainstorming because their original characters are included. Would it be a problem if they helped with brainstorming and do I need to edit it to not credit them as a co-writer?

Cherrylust_X

Hi @Colossus_Prime . Thanks for your questions :)

So, for the songs in your story, it is okay to use them. Completely original songs written by you are totally fine too. As for the co-writer credit, if someone helped you with brainstorming or ideas and doesn't have access to the account or co-wrote lines, then the work is still considered as yours as the account owner. You don’t need to list them as a co-writer in the story details for Ambys submission. You can still thank them in your author’s note!

Hope this helps! Good luck with your submissions ✨
