So I have an idea for a story, and my first two chapters are almost done. I got 20k words written for introduction, and I think I'm going to outline the story properly before continuing. This will be my first ever story that I'm actually trying to put time into.

@TheCynicalCritic and I'd say that you're doing well but don't take it from me, a guy on the internet who knows nothing about writing

RWBY fanfics always suffer from the same issue, the Authors rely way too hard on focusing the MC into the main plot of the canon series instead of making changes where changes should be made. Dozens of characters in RWBY and yet most people want to focus on the most boring ones like Ruby, Yang, Blake, and Weiss. Use characters that are more ambiguous like Adam (the Adam that Monty wrote, not the one the current show runners did), characters like Raven who are massively underrated in their use.

The greatest fanfictions are the ones that aren't afraid to fuck up the canon storyline. Ryuugi with The Games We Play and Coeur Al'Aran with Relic of The Future being amazing examples of writing that quite literally has never been matched in the RWBY Fandom.

Agree on everything. Wattpad authors struggle to write fanfic that doesn’t follow the stations of canon instead of making their own thing, which fanfic heavily encourages.

My Hero Academia Wattpad fics are a good example of this. Instead of having the protagonist already be a Pro-Hero/Vigilante/Villain/whatever the fuck they insist on having them do the US Entrance Exam, the 2 v 2 test fights, etc. I myself am unfortunately included in this.

This is not to say that a fanfic that follows the stations of canon/isn’t very AU is bad. If you know what you’re doing you could still make the fanfic interesting.

Harem stories are also not easy to write, ESPECIALLY if there’s more than 5-6 characters in the Harem. Wattpad authors should limit how many characters will be in the Harem instead of having every single girl on the planet be in love with the Main Character.

This is why I never mention what characters will fall in love with the protagonist and instead have them slowly become infatuated with them over the course of the story, makes for a more natural love story.

@TheCynicalCritic I agree on this, plus those massive harem ones, where every single person is gender bent but Yasti and Fox and adds every girl into it. The Harem is just too big, a harem should be of 5-8 girls any more than that and it harder to write.

First of all you need to give each girl their own dialogue points and have them talk, fight, ECT.

2 is that the more girls in it the harder it is to focus on what you are wanting to write. I mean seriously if you want to write a harem story, leave out the main story and make your own or just make a Lemon story.

Plus reading a 4-chapter harem book isn't entertaining at all. In fact, it's boring to read. We spend maybe about 10 minutes reading the names of girls and then when we get to the actual chapters, it's one chapter and then an Update announcement. The more you add the harder it is. Sorry for the rant

Authors who have a constant motivation to write are infinitely better than me, I cannot write consistently for shit

Anonson69420

Same here

I try to set up an update schedule for myself, but I can’t can’t keep pace with it at all. So I resort to posting the Chapter which gets completed first instead of sticking to a story and trying to figure out where I want to take things from there within it.

Mushoku Tensei at its core is a perfect isekai, not even just isekai, but perfect anime. It's writing, animation, world-building, etc.

I will say this, I was completely unable to write efficiently or effectively or to my standards of what a book should be.

I wouldn't be able to do the Light Novel any amount of justice that it undoubtedly deserves.

TheCynicalCritic

I took a break from writing for a little bit and I read a super long Mushoku Tensei fic. Not gonna lie, the people who make MT Fanfictions are insanely talented. 135 chapters each were at least 2k words.

I have zero clue how I'm gonna live up to that. I'm gonna mull over some ideas before writing it again. I might just scrap what I have right now and change aspects of the story to fit a new narrative I made as I found a story that used the same idea I had.

Til then, I'm gonna be listening to music and writing in silence. I'll see you guys then.

Thoughts on me writing a Mushoku Tensei × Elden Ring OC?

I've been thinking about it like mad and I can see it decently. I'm unsure on how strong the OC would be considering Elden Ring characters can be scaled to Galaxy level while Mushoku Tensei has yet to even show one Planetary feat.

Obviously, there aren't many Mushoku Tensei fics out there and it's an incredibly niche audience despite how good the anime is so Idk if I should. I have been messing around with the idea and already have 5 different drafts for a story about Mushoku Tensei.

but I want to hear what you guys think because it does take a long ass time to write a good story.

Smegma_Male

I think it could be very interesting, and as you said I have never seen a Mushoku Tensei fic

A have a tip for writing RWBY fanfiction, stop making the MC a legend at slaying Grimm, play into the danger of fighting Grimm.

We're always told how Grimm are super dangerous and that being a Hunter is garunteed death for most Hunters but all we ever see is the Grimm being a nuisance at best to the MC's. The Grimm are the embodiment of death and fear, write them as dangerous and frightening and you'll have a true natural enemy, following the usual Hero-Villian-Other Trifecta.

I know its dumb, but I really wished there was an Arthur Morgan fanfiction where he crossed over into a different game like Assasins Creed or some other game that takes place in an older civilization. Even in shows like RWBY could work.

Idk man, I just need more Arthur Morgan in my life and I don't care where I can get it.

Wrong Number Text Fics if they happened IRL:

Main Character: Hey man, we're still meeting at (X location), right?

Character (Usually the love interest): Wrong number, man, have a nice day though.

Main Character: Sorry, that's my fault.

          --------------- fin

For real though, who in the hell finds those thing genuinely interesting?
