Dean never wanted a happily ever after. He was a thirty something dropout with an unhealthy codependency to his brother and an affinity for bottling up his emotions. The closest thing he figured he'd get to happily ever after was working his way up to manager at his uncle's auto shop and living in a modest house just outside of Sioux Falls, so he never put much into wanting one, let alone thinking he could actually have one. That started to change when he met Castiel at a bar in Palo Alto at his brother's graduation party, he just doesn't know it yet
