The name Dag is Nordic. It’s pronounced a bit like “dah” with a very slight hard G sound at the end. If you’re not familiar, that’s the G sound used in “giggle”.

The name Tāne is borrowed from te reo Māori. It is a famous and meaningful name, with heroic associations. I encourage you to search for “Tāne Māori god”. Note that while the heroic nature of the original god is evoked, the character in my story is not meant to be him.
          
          Pronunciation: The T is a soft one, because it is followed by A. This makes it sound like it rests partway between a T and a D. The A is long, as it bears the macron. It’s the sound associated with the exclamation “ah”. The N is a slightly emphasised version of the English N sound. The E is similar that the E sound in the English word “let”.
