It's that time of year for my bi-yearly announcement I am still alive, and haven't forgotten my password... yet. I'm starting to admit to myself I am just always exhausted and I can't wait for a writing day when I'm not.

I've forgotten how much of my behind-the-scenes updating Wattpad notifies my followers of, so I apologize in advance for any mass notifications as I update my Ranger's Apprentice theories. I'm excited to get back to them, since I abandoned my past rewrite partially through several years ago. I am a much better editor now, I hope.
So far, I've edited down from 40,000 words of Google Doc to 34,000, and that's only on the first 7 + 1 I just outright deleted it was so useless!
Welcome back! Do you think you might come up with an ONC story for this year?
@elveloy Thanks! At the moment I'm going through a lot of transition, with very little free time and no energy to spare these next months—that being said, I'm very hopeful about next year, as I'll either have better hours or be unemployed. I might even use some 2024 prompts over the summer to brush up on my skills!
Going on 2 years since I last logged in... that's a lot longer than I intended.
To make this short, I've been in stages of burn out for nearly half a decade so I gave myself a mental health break, quit the job giving me a lot of stress, and recently began moonlighting as a fanfic writer over on ao3 to get myself back on the horse.
I am by no means ready to announce my next great novel (which will undoubtedly be a flop anyway), but I do hope to read some ONC novellas over the next few months and dip my toes into editing some long-abandoned works. I really enjoy reading and meeting fellow writers on this platform and missed y'all :(
@Olivaughn Exciting! (Wattpad stopped giving me notifications and has only the last few days of updates—apparently people are still commenting on a 3 year old ONC novella thread) I'd love to be added to the beta server! Sounds like you're doing great. Other than being too ambitious in my personal life and generally exhausted from being an adult, I am just bursting with energy xD

(If you want in the beta discord server---which is just me having some people read it early and tell me if it sucks completely, no need for super technical critiques if no one wants to---just lmk!) That moment where you have a minor crisis of "do I even like writing enough to fight my inner perfectionist that won't let me write even a draft?" and then come back to wattpad after avoiding everyone waiting for the promised update/s just because there's books you were reading and invested with and see your browser has logged you out it's been so long. Or is that just me?
@Cocosghost I love editing and creating that cohesion! But I can't do that unless I draft something first so kudos to you for being able to, even if it's a struggle xD
Yes, I find it’s a psychological battle to put pen to paper. I lose my creative motivation, then throw my ideas down before I forget them. I polish them versus attempting to complete polished draft. It feels like white magic when all the paragraphs align and make cohesive sense.

I've been silent for a long time so I'll let you know that I am alive, just not writing as much, and I need to work on my editing skills. While I'm not sure where "Nolan Davey" is going quite yet, I know I'm going to take it in a different direction, with less rambling as a given. The editing the first few chapters alone dropped the word count significantly, so it might end up as a novella rather than barely above the words needed to make a novel (50,000).
I'm also busy reworking a bunch of Ranger's Apprentice Theories either with new information or combining them. Somehow they're much easier and more fun to do than essays for my classes even though they're somewhat similar in form.
