I have a quick question about pronouns for a story I’m working on: So in my story, there are four gods. I’m not going to give much detail on their involvement yet, but they do have rather prominent roles in the story and will be actually shown, at least in backstories. I am thinking about making them all be non-binary with they/them pronouns since they are not human and do not have reproductive parts, which would make their genders their own choice or based off which gender they appear more as, I guess. The only reason I am hesitant about this is because I do not want to fall into that shape-shifting cliche for non-binary people, even though that won’t actually happen. If you’ve watched Good Omens, I would take a similar approach to the angels and demons in that show. Their bodies do not change, but they can like change their hair and outfits up (which I would do either way, but they wouldn’t necessarily change their pronouns) I also have at least two human characters planned that are non-binary or genderfluid, one who is a ruler of a kingdom and the parent to the main character, and the other who is introduced later but I’m thinking will grow to be a prominent character. So basically what I’m asking is do you think it’d be better for the gods to be non-binary or not lol. Let me know what you think! Hopefully that made sense XD

@One_Sleepy_Dragon Thanks! That’s how I was viewing it too, they’re not human so they don’t necessarily go by human gender concepts unless that is their choice. @wolfraider56 thank you! :3

I’m not sure really how to answer that but it sounds really cool! Whatever you do, I know it’ll be good!

@TheMysteryDragon Well, under Christian mythology, it would make sense for all of the gods to be non-binary, but the gods could also just be creatures without specific gender. The concept of gender is a human societal thing, so technically the entire idea could be an alien thing to them. But I guess I'm saying if you work it right, it could be a really cool, positive thing!
