Hello, I have a question regarding Wattys eligibility for the next awards cycle.
I submitted my original story to the Wattys, and it was later flagged and removed due to an age-related guideline issue. I did appeal it, but the story was not restored.
I understand that stories which were flagged or removed, and stories that were previously submitted, are not eligible for resubmission. Because the original version was permanently removed, I rewrote the entire story from scratch and republished it as a new story with a new ID. The new version is longer, fully rewritten, and compliant with all current guidelines.
I take responsibility for the original violation. My characters were 17 while the story included mature themes, which violated the TOS. I wrote the story when I was 18 and published it later without realizing this was not allowed, and I did not fully review the Terms of Service at the time. I understand this now, and all characters in the current version are 18+.
I also rewrote the story over several days and am currently working on a sequel. I understand that one purpose of the resubmission rule is to encourage writers to create new work, and in my case, I did rewrite the entire book and continued writing. My question is: would this rewritten version be eligible for a future Wattys submission, or does the original flagging and previous submission permanently disqualify the new version?
One last question: I use AI only to create visual moodboards for my characters (for inspiration and reference), but never for the writing itself. All writing is done in my own voice. I want to confirm whether using AI for visuals only would affect eligibility.

@nikkixo - there should be some information posted in January from what I hear through the team, but I think that similarly to this time around, some will be released early in Jan to give folks a heads up what to expect, and then full and complete guidelines just before the contest opens. Not 100% decided yet, but that seems to be the way it's going at the moment.

Hey Gavin. One quick question. When you said the guidelines would be posted in the new year, did you mean early in the year like January or February, or closer to July like the official rules release. I just want to keep an eye out at the right time. Thank you.
