@blueskiesredhues - as far as I'm aware, there's nothing in the guidelines that prohibits you from utilising social media

@TheOrangutan another question, can we promote our entry on social media like IG perhaps and tag/mention the author of the story? Say, I'm gonna post the cover art of my webcomic entry thru IG stories, and then tag the original author, and mention that the story and characters are not mine, only the art?

Hello! How are you doing?

I was just curious and and I want to check out if there is any possibility of me becoming the part of this Wattpad Ambassador community do you have any update if it is possible for you to talk about it would be really a lot mean a lot? (positive negative feedback whatever it is I just want to know)

Or if there any suggestion you want to give me I would highly appreciate?

And sometime in general can I just talk to you just in general without any question if that is okay because I don't want to violet any rules or regulation made by the company?

Hope to hear you from soon...... ☺

@AuthorRavenBlack - Hi,

All I can really suggest is that you apply using the submissions form on the @Ambassadors profile. Once you've done that then you've given yourself a chance to be picked. If you don't get picked this time, then please do reapply as we get around 1000 submissions every four months and we can only take about 150 on each time.

And yes, questions are always fine if you want to post something here. I'll always do my best to answer, but I don't have answers for everything.

            Cheers, Gavin

Hi Gavin!
I was reading the rules for the wattys, in anticipation of tomorrow’s announcement, and now I think my ongoing story may have been disqualified…

About 2-3 weeks ago, as I was doing my weekly update, I went back to the last published chapter to copy the writer’s message I always include at the end of each chapter and paste it into the new one. But when I got out of that published chapter, the system saved it and republished it, even though I didn’t make any changes to it. After publishing the new chapter, I saw in the contents that it appeared as if I had just published two chapters (including the one from the previous week) that same day and not just the new one. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, not until today when I read about the editing regulations. The weird part is that if you look at the contents now, all chapters have the original publication date, one for each week, and nothing shows as changed. But I’m getting nervous that the system assuming I had edited that one chapter that week may have disqualified my story. I guess what I’m trying to ask are the following questions:

-1) do you think that incident would count as an edit and therefore disqualify my story automatically?

-2) do they have a way of knowing if you really didn’t make any edits to the story? Because I didn’t. I did not change a single letter!

-3) also, in the rules, when you say “you cannot go back and make changes to submitted parts…”, does that include only the parts you had published when you submitted, or does it mean everything published, before and after submission?

-4) if your story is disqualified, would you get a notice or an email? How do we know if we’ve been disqualified?

-5) how will the announcements tomorrow be? Will they send an email to all shortlisted writers, or will they just add a banner in their profiles?

I apologize for the many questions, and I thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

          Have a great day!

TheOrangutan

@Ty_Mirida - Hi,

I'm afraid I can't really answer your questions very concisely as I'm not really deeply involved in the technical side of the contest. But, I'll do what I can:

            1. I'm not 100% sure.
            2. Sorry, but I don't know the answer to that one.
            3. Once you have entered a part of the story, so you've submitted it, then every part of the story you've entered should not be edited once you have entered it.
            4. Not to my knowledge.
            5. The Shortlist will be posted at around 10am Toronto time today, and emails will follow as far as I'm aware.

Sorry I can't answer everything as fully as you'd like.

            Gavin

Hello. I'm so sorry to disturb you.
How do I do for my stories to get views?
Won't they get promoted some day?
It's been almost a year since I write but my stories don't get any attention.

icy_shinigami

@ icy_shinigami Already did. Thanks for your massage.

@icy_shinigami - when I first started on Wattpad, I found that the best way to get people to read my stuff was to read theirs. Find people who write similar stuff to you, read their story, give them positive feedback and critique. Often they will return the favour and then you start building a little community and a few writery friends. Once you start getting some reads that will boost your story's visibility in the algorithms, and you'll start placing on the Hot Lists. Once you do that, people will start finding your story of their own accord.

And of course you need to keep writing. The more you write, the more known you'll become.

Hai ...
Will Wattpad ambassadors someday hold offline meetings? Like meeting and discussing the vision and mission with other international Wattpad ambassadors somewhere?

TheOrangutan

@orionstarsy - there are various communication methods open to the team, but as they are spread across the world, it's not usually possibly to have a single online meeting where everyone can attend. Most communications tend to be done via Discord in text form then everyone can catch up on information when they log in for the day.

I have a friend who’s 15 and really wants to become a Wattpad ambassador. Writing means everything to her, and she wants to help encourage other young writers to follow their dreams, no matter what. In the past, she was bullied for loving to write, with people calling her names and trying to bring her down, but she didn’t let that stop her. Now, she’s proud of who she is and what she creates, and she wants to use her own story to help others stay strong and do what they love too.

She’s written two stories on Wattpad so far — one is completed with 101k reads and 1.61k votes, and the second is already gaining traction with 105 reads and 15 votes. Even though she’s young, she’s determined to put in the hard work to inspire others. She’s worried her age might hold her back, but her talent and drive are undeniable, and she hopes she’ll get a chance to prove it.

Mia_xxz

Thank you so much, Gavin. I completely understand the age requirement, and I’ll definitely keep supporting her and encouraging her to continue writing. It’s inspiring to know that age doesn’t limit talent, and I know she’ll keep pushing forward with her stories. We both appreciate your kind words, and she’ll be ready to apply when the time comes. Thanks again for the encouragement, and we’ll keep striving for the best!

@Mia_xxz - Hi, and thank you for the message. Sounds like your friend is a driven and determined woman, and I admire that. I also like that you're proud of your friend and want to help her too, that's good to see.

When your friend is 18 she will be allowed to apply to join the Ambassadors. I'm afraid she will have to wait a few years as that 18 figure is a legal requirement and there's no way around that.

So, for now, I hope she keeps writing and continues to inspire you and her other readers and friends. Age is no barrier to talent, and if she wants to succeed at writing then I suspect she may well do that from the way you've described her there. I wish her well in her writing journey.

            All the best, Gavin

Hi! Sorry if I'm being a bother, but I have a question I'd love to ask.
I don't know, but from the requests, I get to which I respond, I want to know — if, according to Wattpad guidelines — a vote for a vote is allowed.
It's something that has been plaguing my mind for some time now.

          Thank you for your time☺️

TheOrangutan

@Central_vee - technically, no, it's not. It used to be, and in my opinion, it's not a behaviour that is particularly useful. Votes are a good way to connect with writers and engage with the Wattpad community, but votes do not impact how a story is ranked, so trading them is kinda pointless. To me, feedback on a story is far more important. There's more information on votes and stuff on the Help pages if you're interested.
