This morning, I heard about the following news story:
"The University of Wisconsin Madison and the University of Colorado Denver are now offering a 'Problems with Whiteness' course." These colleges claim that white people in America "consciously and/or unconsciously" consider themselves to be better than other races.
My reaction:
Guys...that's not true! I'm white and I don't think that way. And I know tons of other white people who don't think that way, either.
As I heard about this, the words of Martin Luther King, Jr. echoed through my mind.
"I have a dream that one day, my children will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
NOT by the color of their skin, but by the CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER.
I can say with certainty that Martin Luther King, Jr. would've been shaking his head while hearing about this news story.
Please, pass this message on to other people. If anything, at least pass the quote on to other people. I am convinced that it is a message that people need to hear once more.
