@The_CatHerine it helps your ranking because people say they like each of your chapters. A lot of people want to be anonymous readers though, so even if they do like your book, they don't vote as the author will get a notification they voted. Also, it will show in the newsfeed to everyone that you liked that chapter. It helps the author get exposure for the book. But on the readers end that is showing their reading activity and some people just don't want an internet presence. Or they just don't want to interact with anyone. When a reader votes or comments, the author usually thanks the reader for the vote or comment. Some people like the interaction, many don't.
