Argh! Why is it daylight's savings time?! It was literally 1:59 a few minutes ago, now I'm rockin' at three. I'm gonna have one foot in the grave in the morning.

Anyway, you guys like synth stuff? I love it, a lot. Remember when I had that huge phase where I'd only talk about songs by HEALTH and nothing else?

Yeah, apparently I'm not done with that yet.

This is PANAMA by HEALTH. It's so basic it's painful. It's basically just one dude dancing up and down the chromatic scale for a little bit as some other dude lazily plays with highhats. It's for this reason that I love it. It's so chill at all the right times. It's perfect for when you're up writing at three in the morning.

Right, so I sorted my life out, that's real great. Gonna take care of business tomorrow after I finally replant those daffodils.

          ---

Let's take it back to where it all began. Dream theater was one of the first bands I ever listened to as a kid -- besides Enya and the Beatles.

One of their greatest tracks ever created was the massive Octavarium, a 24-minutes long song composed of several eight minute segments, each unique in their own way. If you've got some spare time, put it on and check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Okay, when I said that I was gonna start doing stuff, I completely forgot that it's midterm week.

Which take up a lot more time than I remember, that's for sure. To keep myself accountable for this, I'm gonna start doing these notes daily. Don't worry, I'm not gonna start notifying the people following me every single day, that'd just start to get annoying.

Since we're already on the topic of massive disappointments, check out this song out I found.

          https://soundcloud.com/notclipped/where-i-stay

It's called "i told her to wait for me".

I want to hate it /so/ badly, but I can't bring myself to do it. It's literally everything I hate about lo-fi hip hop. The beats are all sampled, the only editing is a bit of highhats added in along with a little pitch shifting, and there's an anime girl on the cover. I want to hate this track, but I just can't. Despite all my complaints, it's just really fun to listen to.

Have you guys got any songs like that?

thecreator12

Hey there! I would really appreciate it if you read one of my novels/short stories and give me feedback.

If you can, great! If not, then have a fantastic rest of your night/day :)

@The_Lotus_Eater Thank you so much! Good luck on your midterm :)

Sure, I'll check it out. I've got another midterm tomorrow, so I might be awhile™ though.

I started typing this in some empty lot back in NC, but I sorta fell asleep on the bus back home.

So I guess we're gonna do it now!

We had a good run ( go LC hornets!), but the Forensics season is over. This means that I actually have time to go and start working on my pieces again, so I'm pretty happy about that.

          ---

Today we're gonna take a back a few decades. Jethro Tull is one of my favorite bands of all time. Never before have I heard a flute blend so well with that style of rock.

The Witch's Promise is one of their more gentle songs, and I just thought I'd share it with you guys.

And so concludes day one of "Lotus proofreads his own stuff for once".

For a moment there, I thought everything was going to hell in a handbasket, but it always seems bad at the start. It gets a little better with every corrected error.

Tonight's track is "虹が始まるとき" by Boris. I think the text says "Where the Rainbow Starts", but my skill with Japanese is...

Well, let's put it this way. I know more Cyrillic than I do Hiragana.

          сука блять

That's it. That's all I know. You can thank the Russians for that one.

Enough of that, the track I've listed is a noise metal song by Boris. It's absolutely beautiful until 2:09, where Wata stops singing and starts doing /something/ with the guitar. I don't know what she's doing, but she's not playing it. She's got all these awful distortions on it that completely ruin the song until about 3:36, where she puts it down and starts back up with the vocals. It's so weird, because she's actually a really skilled guitarists. I guess she wanted to pimp that song out with some really obnoxious effects.

The_Lotus_Eater

Footnote, a similar track to this is "Silver Lights" by Coconuts.

It's got the same distortion thing going on.

Also, I forgot to link the song in the upper post, so I better go do that.

I've been putting this off because I /really/ don't want to do it.

But it's gotta be done eventually.

I've got exactly two hours before I've got another class. If I don't finish proofreading my stuff in those two hours, it will never get done.

I've got a tall glass of what I hope is water, a timer, and a two hour loop of Daisuke by El Huervo. Let's make this happen.

The_Lotus_Eater

This is taking a lot longer than I initially anticipated. On the bright side, I found this:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M89Bc9Fbhs8

Someone took the Daisuke track and slowed it down to 33 RPM. Sounds pretty great when you're trying to focus.

It's done, but it looks like hot garbage. I'm gonna wake up tomorrow, go buy my textbooks for this semester first thing, then come home and edit it.

That's a song from my childhood right there. When it dropped six years ago, people threw a -fit- because they uploaded it to a channel called "The Lonely Island". They were pretty famous for making comedy skits and songs, and this track was definitely a change of pace for them. Turns out, one of TLI's crewmember's brother was vocalist for Electric Guest (the band playing in the video), and this dude wanted to help his bro out by posting his video on TLI's channel.

They pulled it shortly afterwards when people started getting all pissed. Still a good song though.
