In light of recent discoveries I would like to request that those who upload my books to piracy websites please use non-AI scraping ones. Specifically, my book has appeared on a lesser known piracy website which runs an AI over the book to create summaries. This is bad because it means it is probably using that data to train an AI somewhere, too.
To be clear, I don't care if you pirate my books or send the PDFs to others or whatever. Amazon pays me like nothing at all per book so I care more about growing an audience/sharing my stories than actually making money from them. _However_ I ask that those who are pirating them please use reliable piracy databased like Anna's Archive, Library Genesis, etc. Or, just ask me for the PDF itself and I'll give it to you directly.
Please, if you see a website uses AI to scrape the book in any way, including to create autogenerated summaries, do NOT put my book or anyone else's into that website.
To be honest, this message is probably preaching to the choir a bit because I don't think it was any of you, but it is worth it to me to put a message out about my stance on it anyway.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

@I_am_a_dude oh yeah it's super common, idk anyone irl who hasn't pirated media at some point. As long as you only pirate when absolutely necessary or when the creators are very large (ie pirating Disney movies is pretty much always ethical imo) it isn't really an issue

@The_sunniest_angels that’s crazy, and also awesome your goal. I didn’t even know that was a thing frankly, I knew piracy existed but I didn’t realize it was widespread like that lol. I’ll definitely keep an eye out

@The_sunniest_angels Also please do not go looking for the AI piracy website! Giving it more traffic will push it to more viewers who could go on to upload more works. I myself will not visit it again until I can think of a way to get my work taken off of it or perhaps the whole website taken down, even, without risking other piracy websites being taken down with it.
