For covers, try wikipedia. Most pics there come with a CC license, and can be used as long as you quote the original author. Flickr too has a cc-area where you might find nice pics.
          
          As for stories: as far as I can tell, stories with romance in them are in high demand as are those with werewolves or vampires. Browse the clubs and you'll see what I mean. ;-)

@KatharinaGerlach I'm still fumbling tentatively as well, but I'm liking what I see. My biggest conundrums so far are how to choose which stories go on here, and what to do about covers for them all. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm still new enough to tentatively fumble around. How do you like it so far?
