Mine is not the typical story of a writer.

I did not spend my free time as a child adventuring down the Mississippi with Huckleberry Finn or fighting for Narnia with the Pevensie children. I spent it pretending I was Batman. I blew up the Death Star. I escaped the Temple of Doom. I saved New York from Doctor Octopus more times than I can count. I created perilous, fanciful scenarios to act out with my neighborhood friends - I was always the one with the far-out ideas, assigning my friends roles and directing our fun.

It wasn't until my high school English teacher saw potential in my writing that I discovered fiction as a natural outlet for my active imagination. It was in the classroom that I began to explore worlds of my own creation and delve deeply into stories about super heroes and secret agents and dystopian societies. In college I furthered my love for storytelling and pursued a BA in English with an emphasis in writing. I graduated in 2012 and have been teaching English at the high school level ever since. While I love the education field and greatly enjoy helping students discover their potential as mine was once discovered, I feel called to write and cannot ignore the constant urge to put pen to paper.

If you feel called to read what I write, I think that's pretty rad.
